What is the Prayer Shawl Ministry?
This is a ministry of prayer and love for those in great need. A prayer shawl is a tangible gift representing the many and continuing prayers for comfort, caring, healing and love offered for an individual who is experiencing a serious illness, grief, loss, emotional trials or spiritual upheaval in their lives. A card is given with a prayer for the recipient to pray as the shawl is being worn. The person need not be a member of Prince of Peace. How are they made? “This ministry combines knitting/crocheting and prayer as you make beautiful prayer shawls with love and care for those in great need. Just follow the directions for making the prayer shawl and pray as you knit/crochet for the person who will receive the shawl.” Members and friends of the congregation volunteer to knit or chrochet prayer shawls to be given freely for comfort and love to those with great physical, emotional or spiritual need.
