Several studies have been done to measure accuracy in implant placement on dry models, on cadavers, on human and on animals since 1997. Measures are done using a superimposition of CT scan of implant planned on CT scan of implants placed. With manual implant placement (Mental) the accuracy is around 3.5 mm and the angle about 10°. Using a Surgical guide to drill, but placing implants by hand give an accuracy of 0.9 mm. Using a SurgiGuide SAFE System, the accuraty goes down to 0.3 mm. A study on rabbits showed an accuracy of the SAFE System of 100 microns. A publication on accuracy done by Dr. Vrielinck and Dr. Tardieu will be available soon.
