Australia Post has a database of all correct addresses in Australia called the Postal Address File (PAF). It has no personal or business names. Each address has a unique identifier number called the DPID (Delivery Point Identifier). This number corresponds to a unique barcode which is printed with the mailing address. This permits the mail to be electronically sorted by Australia Post and automatically directed to the correct delivery route.
