What is the purpose of the Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC)?
RUC is used to ensure Transmission System reliability and to ensure that enough Resource capacity, in addition to Ancillary Service capacity, is committed in the right locations to reliably serve the forecasted load on the ERCOT System. RUC will use “make-whole” payments to adequately compensate for such costs. ERCOT runs the RUC study both daily and hourly, Day-Ahead RUC (DRUC) for the following day and Hourly RUC (HRUC) for each hour.
