What is the reason for Lucas Oil Stadium food venues hit with 373 violations?
A visitor to Indianapolis was halfway through a cheeseburger bought at a concession stand Friday when he learned of Lucas Oil Stadium’s less-than-clean record on food inspections. “On the surface, it all looks clean,” said Ed Devlin, 45, a Boston resident, as he looked over the burger in a stadium wrapper. “It seems fine. It’s cooked well.” Advertisement But as high school bands marched in the background, food-service contractor Centerplate was busily cleaning many of its kitchens before the Indianapolis Colts host the New England Patriots on Sunday night. From January 2008 to Oct. 2, Marion County Health Department food-service inspectors found more violations at 500 S. Capitol Ave. than at any other location by address in Indianapolis. In that period, restaurants and other venues at the stadium have accumulated 373 violations, with 142 critical violations, also more than any other location by address in Marion County. The stadium contains 61 different venues that have been inspected.
