In the Microsoft Office System, workflow is provided by Windows Workflow Foundation, which is part of the Microsoft .NET Framework. It comes with a rich toolset including a graphical workflow designer, a declarative rules engine and a powerful model for extensibility. The Workflow Templates available for integration with SharePoint are Sequential and State Machine Workflow templates. They have been specialized to support SharePoint specific deployment. As mentioned in the Prerequisites section above, these do not come as part of the VSeWSS 1.1, but need to be installed separately with either of the two downloads stated.
