WHAT IS THE TOEFL/ENGLISH REQUIREMENT OF OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY?
Success at Ohio State depends upon the student’s ability to converse in, write, and understand English. To assure such competence, the university normally requires any applicant whose native language is not English, and who has been educated primarily outside of the U.S., to submit recent, official scores of • at least 550 on the paper-based (213 on the computer-based, 79 on the Internet Based TOEFL) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) • or at least 82 on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), • or 7 on the International English Language Testing System(IELTS)exam. The test must have been taken within the last two years. Your intended graduate program may require a higher score. Ohio State does not conditionally admit applicants who have not met the requirement for proof of English proficiency. Applicants who have been educated primarily in one of the following countries are exempt from the TOEFL or MELAB requirement: Australia, Belize, the British Caribbean
