What is the Upward Bound Program?
D’youville College’s Upward Bound program is designed to increase the number of students at the International Preparatory School & Grover Cleveland High School, who enroll and succeed in post-secondary education with funding made possible by the U. S. Department of Education. It is a year-round support program to ensure student readiness for post-secondary education. Upward Bound supports and prepares students to successfully complete essential gateway courses, and with parent, school and community support systems, to be ready for the opportunities and challenges of higher education. Who is eligible? • 9th or 10th grade students • Students who come from a family meeting the Federal income guidelines • Students who are potentially first-generation (neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree) • Students identified as “high academic need” • Students who meet the federal guidelines for citizenship and residency Upward Bound is free to all participants.
