TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. TPMS is a warning system indicating to the operator when a tire is significantly under-inflated. Beginning in September 2007, all new vehicles sold in the US under 10,000 lbs. GVW are mandated to be equipped with TPMS by the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act. This law requires a warning system to indicate under inflated tires.
