With MetroRent’s two-way roommate matching, it’s easy to be efficient and effective in your search for a new roommate. Each side pre-screens the other, and everyone saves time in the process. People who are searching for a new home join MetroRent by indicating their maximum rent and preferred neighborhoods, and by providing us with some information about themselves. This information includes their gender, whether or not they have pets, whether or not they smoke, etc. Likewise, people with a room for rent list their vacancy by providing detailed information about their home, its current household members, and what kind of roommate they seek. Searchers receive their listing only if there’s a two-way match: the vacancy meets the searcher’s needs AND the searcher matches the households’ preferences. For example, if household X does not want to live with smokers, only non-smokers will receive their listing.
