What is used when competing in fencing?
For electric fencing, different things are required for different weapons. FOIL: a lamé (a vest to go over your jacket interwoven with tiny metal wires), a foil body cord that matches the socket in your electric foil (bayonet or two prong are the most common), and electric foil. EPEE: an epee body cord and an electric epee. SABRE: an electric sabre mask, what is called a lead (a cord that attaches mask to lamé), a sabre lamé, a sabre glove, a two prong body cord, and an electric sabre. Required for competition are also knickers and knee high socks. As for scoring and such, reels are used to connect competitors to the machine which registers contact when bouting. These machines can also keep score, depending on how expensive it was.
