What is Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO)?
An oil obtained from the fresh, mature kernel of the coconut by mechanical or natural means, with or without the use of heat, without undergoing chemical refining, bleaching or deodorizing, and which does not lead to the alteration of the nature of the oil. It is suitable for consumption without the need for further processing. Is called a functional food. The active component is Lauric Acid a medium chain fatty acid (MCFA) a.k.a medium chain triglyceride which is converted to monolaurin in the body that helps boost the immune system and fights microorganisms.
Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is oil derived from first press of fresh and mature coconut meat, without the use of heat. It was termed “virgin” because of its pureness, it being unrefined, unbleached and non-deodorized. VCO also retains the fresh aroma of cocounut milk, is thick, water clear, smooth and sweet tasting.
