What is Wild Voices for Kids?
The WVFK program is a simple and effective means of networking teachers and their students with local environmental and heritage ‘experts’ whose intimate subject knowledge can provide an extra little spark to classroom learning. A Wildlife Biologist could help a Biology class better understand the genetics of Mountain Caribou, or a Forester or Park Ranger could excite a Social Studies class by taking students on a hike to explore the regional effects of the Mountain Pine Beetle. A City worker could tour students through the local water treatment facility or recycling depot, or a Ktunaxa Elder could share the significance of local traditional landmarks.
