ALGER COUNTY — The city of Munising received a visit from a U.S. senator this afternoon to celebrate a major achievement for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Senator Carl Levin was on hand for a dedication ceremony for the Beaver Basin Wilderness Area. The Michigan senator received a warm welcome at Tuesday’s ceremony, but the true star of the show was the Beaver Basin Wilderness Area. It was recently designated as a national wilderness area, one of only two in the state.
