What kind of dancing is involved in the MUSICAL Titanic?
The Broadway production had mostly stylized movement, though there was one dance section in “Doing the Latest Rag.” I liked the musical score a lot. Since most of the characters were from the U.K., Maury Yeston was able to write some wonderfully indulge European-flavored music. The book was so-so, and the physical design was problematic — trying to show three decks at once, plus a rather lame attempt at tipping the set. But if you’re asking because there’s an audition in your area, I’d say go for it. There are tons of roles — each more interesting than the drippy lovebirds Jack and what’s-her-name in Cameron’s film.
