What kind of drill bits should I get to drill through concrete?

You’ll need a masonry bit (you can find them in the tool corral of Home Depot or in the fastener section where they have the concrete anchors). The tip of the bit looks like a pointed spade made of high-carbon steel and the body of the bit has spiral channels for augering out the concrete dust. You’ll also want to consider using a heavy-duty (worm-drive) drill. Drilling through concrete creates severe vibrations and takes a long time. A standard drill (like a 3/8 inch Black and Decker) will work. But, you may end up damaging the bearings and/or burning up the motor if you’re doing a lot of concrete drilling.
