You can attend a 4 year University and obtain a B.S Degree in Dental Hygiene, take the state board examination to become Registered, and become an RDH, but the cost is steep, so most hygienist students opt for Community College programs, which award an A.S or A.A degree upon completion of all required courses, after which you take the same state boards, and become an RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist)Usually requires about 2 years of prerequisites, full time to complete all is best, and an additional 2 years of a dental hygiene program curriculum.
