What legal representation is available if an inmate cannot afford a private attorney?
A representative from the Office of Public Defender is assigned to the Department of Detention Facilities to take applications to determine qualification for services. Inmates wishing to apply for Public Defender services will be given the opportunity to do so following their bail hearing, or may submit a Public Defender Request form, available in housing units.
