What makes a mother unfit?
It’s actually, normally, very hard to prove a parent unfit. My ex used drugs but because he didn’t do them in front of the child wasn’t unfit. He did them in the bathroom and my son could smell it, but it was acceptable that my son was there because the tests proved it wasn’t getting into his system. Also my ex had a wife there who wasn’t on drugs to take care of the child. You have to be abusive and he has to be able to prove it. Not being home al the time can be found to be neglect. If a child is in day care most of the time, it can be a touchy situation. Though, if you can prove it’s only while you are going to school at this time to better your life, you stand a chance of it going your way. But a judge does tend to frown on a parent who is never there when the other parent could provide a home with a parent in it.
