What makes Preston’s history special?
A new local history gallery will be opened in the Guild year and it will present Preston’s story and its place in history, exploring the city’s impact on the wider world. With new technologies and innovative displays the gallery will presents items from the collection never seen before, alongside some old favourites. The new gallery will aim to provide an engaging environment for people to explore Preston’s history and bring the museum’s objects to life through the stories of real people. The Harris wants to involve local people in the development of the stories which the gallery will tell and wants to hear from the people of Preston and Lancashire as to what they want to see presented in the history of Preston. Alex Walker, Head of Arts & Heritage at the museum, said: Preston has a rich and fascinating history. For the Guild year we will have an exciting new history gallery, which local people will feel proud of and which will also be one of the prime attractions for visitors to the c
