UnitedHealthcare has developed a Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program that meets Medicare Modernization Act requirements for MTM programs. Our MTM program has been approved by CMS for program year 2009. UnitedHealthcare works with doctors to help ensure you get medically appropriate, safe and cost-effective medications. The Medicare Modernization Act requires this service, especially for people with multiple chronic conditions and complex medication needs. Our Drug Utilization and Medication Therapy Management programs have two primary goals. One is to help ensure appropriate use of medications, and the second is to protect members from the risk of side effects to drugs and from potentially harmful drug-drug combinations.
