What models for handling complex civil cases exist?
Courts have developed a variety of means to handle complex civil cases. While many courts have no system of designating cases as complex, and no special methods of handling them, there exists a range of options currently in use. Beyond basic differentiated case management (DCM), many jurisdictions use specialized dockets. Among the many proposed goals and benefits of these specialized dockets are improved efficiency, improved quality of judgments, predictability, better-prepared parties and judges, and judges who are experienced in the subject matter.
