Embolic complications include infarcts and abscesses. Their location depends on whether the right side or left side valves are affected. 3. Renal complications include, in addition to infarcts and abscesses, focal glomerulonephritis (due to microemboli) and diffuse glomerulonephritis due to antigen-antibody complex formation.
