What process does WasteChecker use to determine waste classification?
WasteChecker adopts the Hazardous Waste Assessment Framework presented in Environment Agency Guidance WM2: Interpretation of the definition and classification of hazardous waste: For many wastes the most appropriate method is to identify the hazardous constituents/chemicals in the waste and then to use their concentrations in the waste to identify whether they confer hazardous properties on the waste. If a waste contains a dangerous substance(s) at a concentration at or above a threshold concentration for any of the hazardous properties H1 to H14, the waste will be hazardous and is categorised as the hazardous “mirror entry”. If a waste contains a dangerous substance(s) at a concentration below the threshold for all of the hazardous properties, the waste will not be hazardous and is categorised as the non-hazardous “mirror entry”. This process is echoed by Guidance on sampling and testing of wastes to meet landfill waste acceptance procedures, Environment Agency, 2005: Classifying the
