Protection of Bituthene 3000, Bituthene 4000, and Bituthene Low Temperature Membranes from site damage is critical to the success of the waterproofing system. Recommended protection courses for use over Bituthene membranes include Hydroduct® drainage composites, 3 mm (0.125 in.) or 6 mm (0.25 in.) Asphaltic Hardboard, 25 mm (1 in.) expanded polystyrene board (vertical applications only), or 6 mm (0.25 in.) extruded polystyrene fanfold board (vertical applications only). Bituthene 5000 does not require a protection course prior to placement of asphalt concrete.
