What protocols does Retina analyze?
“Protocol Analysis” is Retina’s method for determining the protocol spoken on a port. When ports are found open during a scan, Retina does not automatically assume that a given port will host the typical service that ‘should’ be there, and rather examines each port to see if one of the common, listed protocols is found. For instance, If an SSH server were running on a non-standard port, such as 6666, Retina could correctly detect it. Retina performs comprehensive protocol analysis on: DNS, FTP, HTTP, IMAP, LDAP, POP, RPC, SMB, SMTP, SSH, and TELNET.
