What risks are addressed by Software Subcontractor Management?
The primary risks addressed by SSM are those incurred by outsourcing a project or a portion of a project to a group or organization that you do not have full control over. Examples of control elements that would increase risk include poor or missing processes and procedures used for: requirements definition, task estimating and tracking, coding, configuration management, code reviews, testing, communications, and training among others. All of these will affect the quality of product(s) returned to you. SSM causes someone to be assigned specific responsibility for selecting adequate subcontractors and monitoring these types of risks during the life of the project.
