After consulting with one of my peers, my best advice is to ask the HMI manufacturer if they have a driver for Hitachi EMII PLC. If yes, problem solved. If no, ask if they know of someone with a driver (third-party)? If yes, problem solved, go buy it. If no, can they recommend someone to write it? If yes, problem solved, go buy it. If no, find someone to do it, or switch HMI packages, or PLCs. Unfortunately, not all SCADA packages have drivers to talk to all PLCs. Most are willing to do it for a fee, or refer you to a developer. Any SCADA package should have the ability to work with any PLC, just not in any fashion that the user may want. For example, Data Highway Plus ™ by A-B can be used to talk to an A-B PLC. However, it is a closed protocol, (proprietary) So only those who have purchased their product from A-B can use it.
