What star is Barnardo pointing to thats “westward from the pole”?

Aldemarin is the 85th brightest star in the sky, next to it is Denebola the 19th brightest star. A short distance further is Vega the 5th brightest star and 12 times brighter than Aldemarim. Why would anyone choose Aldemarin in preference to either of the other two when they are all going around close together? Aldemarin is no longer west of the pole after 27 January. I don’t think any of these stars is Bernardo’s star, because they are all winter stars and I don’t think it is wintertime. Reasons: Fortinbras has been training his army. Would he, or could he, do that in the middle of winter in Norway? Also, after King Hamlet was killed a ship had to go to France to get Laertes and bring him back for the next coronation. In winter the seas are frozen solid around Denmark, so a ship couldn’t go. Another star has been suggested: Kochab, the 65th brightest star. Half the stars are east of the pole and the other half are west of it, so how in the hell can anyone indicate what particular star
