What style of singing is taught in rehearsals?
The Italian Bel Canto style of singing is taught. In this style of singing, the student will develop a beautiful, heartfelt soundsinging with vibrato, even scale, pure vowels, legato, and expression. Breathing exercises are be taught.In addition to vocal technique and rhythm studies, singers are coached on their appearance, artistic presentation, facial expression, and diction in English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish. The healthy, well trained voice has a range of 1 1/2 to 2 octaves. To develop sight reading skills, all singers are encouraged to take piano lessons and sight singing classes. The recommended instrument for singers who play in band or orchestra is flute.
