The DEMRI Portal technology solution supports a complex publishing process. This is a large-scale digital publishing infrastructure that consists of planning tools, a content management system (CMS), and the DEMRI Portal content distribution infrastructure. The current technical solution has been in use since March 2005, by OpenCourse.org, with technical support team managing all aspects of this infrastructure. The planning tools used by the DEMRI Portal team to assist users in publishing their resources and materials include a custom application of Plone: a powerful open source Content Management System; and Zope: an open source application server for building content management systems, intranets, portals, and custom applications.
