What time does my off peak electric start?
Peak hours are different depending on the time of year and your geographical location. Peak is a term associated with electricity rates charged for electrical usage. Electricity is more expensive to make in the heat of the summer day than the middle of the winter night. I can explain that in detail if it is important. But back to your question. If you live in southern California, the on peak period from June 1 to September 30 is from 12 pm to 6 pm. Then comes mid-peak from 6pm to 10 pm which has slightly lower rates than on peak. At 10 pm till 6 am the next morning is the time of cheapest power known as super-off. And last, there is off peak from 6 am to 12 pm that is reduced rate like mid-peak. In the winter months in southern California there are only super-off, off, and mid. Again, this is due to the cheaper cost of power production in cooler weather which negates the need to charge the highest rate of on-peak.
