What timeframe must the recertifications follow?
First recertification is required no later than the 12th day of hospitalization. The second recertification is required by no later than the 18th day. Subsequent recertifications must be made at intervals established by the utilization review committee (on a case by case basis), but in no event may the interval between recertifications exceed 30 days.
