What towns are included under the Mat-Su Borough Department of Emergency Services?
All towns, communities, and highways within the Mat-Su Borough are covered by Mat-Su Borough Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Because our borough is the size of West Virginia, we have ambulances in Trapper Creek, Talkeetna, Willow, Houston, Big Lake, Meadow Lakes, Wasilla, Palmer, Butte and Sutton. We also have a first responder units in Victory, Lake Louise, and Amber Lake. Fire Service Area (FSA) coverage is paid for through property taxes. Borough firefighters respond within the following FSA’s: Talkeetna, Willow, Big Lake, Meadow Lakes, Wasilla, Butte, and Sutton. All services are staffed by on-call paid responders, which means there are no fulltime-paid personnel at the stations. Responders drive from work or home to the station when a call goes out. Palmer and Houston provide their own fire service coverage with oversight provided by the cities. How can I become a firefighter or EMT? Our volunteer coordinator, works at 680 North Seward Meridian Parkway, Station 6-5 in Wasilla. S
