If your lips are sore after 3/4 of a song your problem is that you’re using too much pressure on your mouthpiece when you play–a new different mouthpiece won’t cure that and may even make the situation worse. 4. The reason you are using too much pressure is that you are using fundamentally flawed technique and/or have a weak embouchure. 5. Without actually seeing you and listening to you play it is impossible to make any sort of specific recommendations. That being said, the simple answer is to tell you to run out and buy a Schilke 14A4a–you’ll probably like it. It’ll add a half-step or so to your range, and you may even be able to play a little longer. But after a couple of weeks rebound will probably set in and your range will drop and your endurance will decrease. You would probably get the same result
