What type of performance management functions does Metro Ethernet Manager support?
Performance management can be accomplished in two different ways. Performance data and information is available from network elements via SNMP, which can be accessed via nodal element management tools launched from the MEM GUI. This data is also available to third party performance measurement reporting systems via SNMP, and Nortel has pre-integrated solutions with vendors such as InfoVista and others. MEM Troubleshooting tools will also provide operators with direct visibility of data such as IEEE 802.1ag and ITU Y.1731 Ethernet statistics for rapid performance visibility.
