What types of message on-hold systems are available?
There are many types of playback systems available for MOH applications. Almost all systems now use digital message playback & offer excellent sound quality. The most important feature in today’s marketplace is how the messages are updated. Messages can be delivered on a CD or cassette tape to be loaded into the player, but that requires user intervention. Newer technology allows for electronic updating requiring no user intervention. Messages can electronically delivered via phone line usually using a non-dedicated phone line or even better via the internet using what is referred to as “pull” technology. The unit actually calls out over the internet to a message server to check for any updates & automatically pulls new messages into itself.
