What Types of projects does OBPR support?
Proposals for ground-based experimental, theoretical, and numerical research as well as technology development may be selected for support in the OBPR ground-based research program. Ground-based studies are funded for periods of up to four years, depending on the announcement. A new proposal is required in order to continue a ground-based study after the initial grant period and/or to develop a flight experiment based on a previous ground-based investigation. Proposals for experimental research using space-based laboratories (ISS, free flyers and sounding rockets) may be selected for support in the OBPR flight program. In general, ground-based research is usually necessary to clearly define flight experiment objectives. This research may involve experimentation in NASA-provided ground-based facilities, including those which can provide a limited duration low gravity environment.
