What was british healthcare like in 1900?
There was not any such thing as a state/national healthcare system. There was however, charitable hospitals for the poorer people and sometimes the local corporations had their own district hospitals for those who could not afford private healthcare. The Liberal Party formed the basis of a national healthcare system for all and I think that this happened during the early Twentieth Century but you should check that date. Not until Labour came along in the late 1920’s/30’s was a proper universal healthcare system for all, regardless of income developed. The one that Thatcher did her damndest to erode in the 1980’s.
