What was Hitlers rise to power like?
Hitler’s rise to power was marked at first by a period of the NSDAP as a fringe party before the events of the Beer hall putsch and the release of Mein Kampf introduced Hitler to a wider audience. These years were characterised by the electoral battles Hitler participated in, and the street battles between the Rotfrontkämpferbund and the Sturmabteilung (SA) that raged across Germany. Once in power the Nazis mythologised the events as the Kampfzeit (the time of fighting) and similarly the Kampfjahre (years of struggle).
