Hi, The poor leadership from Louis XVI was a main cause of the French revolution of 1789. Before the Revolution and under the Ancien Regime political system, the French population was divided in 3 estates. The first two (the Clergy and the Nobility) concentrated all the powers. The Third estate, which represented the poorest citizen, wanted more rights and the dissolution of the Ancien Regime system. Moreover, France was in a deep economic crisis: The tax system was unfair (only the poorest citizen were paying taxes). The king personal spending were huge.
