What were the important consequences of the American victory in the Spanish-American War?
Victory in the Spanish-American War provided the United States with a large military empire, as they gained control of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Guam, a Pacific island between Hawaii and the Philippines. The U.S also gained status as a world power. They also gained oppurtunities and misfortunes that would ultimately decide the future of Americas foriegn policy.
