What were the real causes of world war 2?
World War 2 was mainly caused due to the effects of world war 1. After the Treaty of Versailles and the Wall Street crash, Germany’s economy was left in ruins. The Germans had been humiliated and practically destroyed by the allies in world war 1. They were looking for a new leader who could make Germany great again. The government at the time, the Weimar government, was a coalition government and not popular with the German people. Some people (including Hitler) blamed these politicians for “betraying Germany” by surrendering. The unrest led to Hitler being elected as leader of Germany. His propaganda led the people of Germany to elect him to power, believing that he could return Germany to it’s former greatness. Hitler gained absolute power after the Reichstag fire, which he blamed on the communists. One of Hitler’s main ideals was to expand the German empire, which is what led to him invading Poland.
