What will be the aural and visual alerts in the KTA 870?
Traffic, Traffic aural alerts. The KTA 870 Traffic System allows display of 3 levels of potential threat. The altitude of the intruder aircraft, relative to the TAS equipped aircraft will be displayed next to the symbol. If the intruder aircraft is changing altitude at a rate of 500 feet per minute or more, an arrow, indicating vertical direction of the intruder aircraft, will be displayed next to the symbol as well. The threat display will change from a white open diamond to a white closed diamond to a yellow circle as a non-threatening aircraft becomes more of a threat. This allows the plot to prioritize their scan to specific aircraft before they become traffic advisories. For other Traffic Systems utilizing only 2 levels of threat, any of the aircraft displayed could become a traffic advisory at any time.
