Erosion Hazard Lines will not change the current approach to development assessment. Council is working to minimise impacts on the assessment of development applications. There are no plans to unduly restrict development. Existing planning controls are considered adequate and will take into account the new information about coastal erosion at Stockton Beach. The revised Newcastle Coastal Zone Management Plan may recommend specific actions in relation to development controls.
