What will be the link between Metz Metropole, the Centre Pompidou and the Centre Pompidou-Metz?
A cooperation agreement signed on December 16, 2004, by Jean-Marie Rausch, mayor of Metz (1971-2008), and Bruno Racine, president of the Centre National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou from 2002 to 2007, defines the ambition, founding principles and mutual commitments of both parties. The legal status of the Centre Pompidou-Metz and its rules of governance will be decided in due course. The Centre Pompidou will be fully involved in the management of the Metz centre. The Centre Pompidou-Metz, cultivating its own identity, will pursue the Centre Pompidou’s work of making art accessible, raising awareness, educating and mediating. It will not own its own works, but exhibit works from the extraordinary collection of the Centre Pompidou’s Musée National d’Art Moderne.
