What will happen if I utilize the mail service option and there is an alert regarding the second-line drug?
Express Scripts will automatically contact your physician to alert him/her of the step therapy component in the drug plan. Express Scripts will attempt to negotiate with the physician to obtain approval to offer a first-line drug alternative. If approval is granted by the physician, Express Scripts will complete the order. If approval is not granted, Express Scripts will then communicate directly with you to inform you of your option to purchase the second-line drug at full price.
