Well…a few things will happen… 1st – the unit will not function properly or provide the proper service to your battery and, 2nd – the red LED will come on steady (not flashing) and will slowly dim as the unit protects itself from the reverse polarity connection. The unit will not be damaged by temporary reverse connection as it is designed to protect itself. Avoid long term reverse polarity connections if possible.
