Hawaii should have remained an independent kingdom.They would have been better off.Hawaii was formed with Polynesians that came from other Islands and settled there.Their great culture is a tourist item and many authentic Islanders are on welfare and live in the non tourist areas.If they did not become a state this would not have happened.I stayed on the island and saw these things and visited the non tourist areas to see the welfare situation.They are like native Americans on the mainland mostly living in reservations.What an irony.I hope they are able to restore the monarchy and become an independent nation again.
