That is, we are to think of our powerlessness to affect the constitution of the future as we conceive of our inability to affect the constitution of the past. Just as the past is now closed to us, so too is our future. Aristotle (2) Predestination :the Divine foreordaining or foreknowledge of all that will happen; with regard to the salvation of some and not others. It has been particularly associated with the teachings of St. Augustine of Hippo and of John Calvin. Predestination may sometimes be used to refer to other, materialistic, spiritualist, non-theistic or polytheistic ideas of determinism, destiny, fate, doom, or adrsta. What’s a school of thought which argues that everything happens for a reason/has a purpose? ~~~ ‘Reasons’ exist as ‘thought’, only! There s no “school of thought which argues that everything happens for a reason”, there is ‘thought’ where reason is perceived (eye of the beholder)! Sans ‘thought’, a meditative Zen state, there is no ‘reason’; no ‘whowhatwherewhenwhy’! No ‘causality’! No ’cause and effect’ = no ‘reason’!
